Forest Dzienis, 18 years old, donated blood for the first time at The Golden Age of Trucking Museum’s Blood Drive held recently in Middlebury, Connecticut. Forest is shown here with Red Cross staff Cindy Bennett. “I wanted to donate blood when I saw the signs at the truck museum. “ said Dzienis. Donating blood is a family tradition with Forest being the third generation of donors. “I’m trying to pass this on to my kids.” said his mom, Dawn Addley-Dzienis. John W. Addley began the family tradition after World War II by donating blood regularly for over forty years. He passed away in 2001, but his legacy of being a blood donor has been passed on to this Middlebury family. Forest is an upcoming senior at Pomperaug High School in Southbury,CT and said that there is a blood drive held at the school each year. If you would like to donate blood please contact the Red Cross for more information at 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or www.give.life.org.
